Want to be more productive and organized?
Set yourself up for success by following these recommended guidelines to help you get ready for your class:
- When you get your class information, print it out and post it near the phone you will be calling from or place in a location you will not forget.
- Take care of dogs, kids, and other lovable distractions, then find a quiet spot in your home from which to call.
- Have a conversation with your lovable distractions and let them know that this time is yours.Set boundaries and rules for what is an OK interruption (someone broke a bone) and what is not.
- Disable “call waiting” just before dialing in. on your phone. To do this on most phones, dial *70. The “Call Waiting” feature is reinstated once you hang up. Different phone companies have different procedures for doing this, so check with your local carrier for specific instructions for temporarily disabling and then re-enabling call waiting.
- Since you’ll be actively participating on the call, it’s best to use an old-fashioned “corded” phone. Only use a cell or cordless phone if you must. The “corded” phone is more likely to not drop your call.If you have a two-line phone, please turn the ringer off on the second line.
- Otherwise, if you get a call during the call, it can cause a very shrill noise that everyone will hear.If this is the first “virtual” class that you have taken, take a moment to review class etiquette.
- Consider using a speaker phone or a head-set so that your hands are free to take notes.
- Have one of your favorite drinks by your side just in case you get thirsty.
- Use the restroom right before you access the class.
- Call the class phone number (or log into the website) at the designated time (5 – 10 minutes before is even better.)
- Courses times are communicated in Central Standard Time (CST) Go to World Time Server to find your own corresponding time.
